Giant Second-hand Book Sale
8th – 28th January
This free event is a great way to browse thousands of quality second-hand books on offer , including: fiction, non fiction, children’s titles and lifestyle books covering gardening, cooking, history and other specialist subjects. All proceeds go to Hestercombe Gardens Trust to continue with the maintenance and restoration of Hestercombe Gardens. Read more here.
Grazing not Gazing 16mm Film Workshop
1st – 2nd February
Responding to Ben Rivers’ Urthworks exploration of ‘other worldliness in the world around us’, artists Katie Davis and Vicky Smith use approaches central to their own practices to conceive a 2-day 16mm film shoot and process workshop. Tickets £40 , which includes both days. Read more here.
Urthworks, an Exploration
Marking the current exhibition at Hestercombe Gallery, this half day event will bring together the artist, the films’ writer, the show’s curators and invited guests to consider the themes raised by Ben Rivers‘ ambitious and deeply imagined works. Refreshments available. Find out more here.
Set in the beautiful surroundings of Hestercombe Gardens, this retreat focuses on achieving mindfulness and restorative calm through a combination of Pilates, Yoga, Tai Chi meditation and Forest Bathing (green space mindfulness).
It is the perfect way to unwind and restore yourself after the busy Christmas season. This event is run in partnership with 1610. £60 per person including lunch and refreshments. Read more here.

Join Hestercombe for a romantic Valentine’s supper beneath a canopy of fairy lights in the former 17th century Orangery, the Bampfylde Hall. Enjoy a sumptuous seven course tasting menu prepared by the Head Chef with live music performed as you dine.
Vegetarian options available (must be pre-booked). Flight of wine available for each course for an additional charge.
