Apple County Chorus Ladies just love to sing!

This all-ladies acapella singing group has been singing in Taunton since 1983 and currently rehearse each Thursday evening between 7.30 and 10.00pm at Temple Methodist Church Hall, Upper High Street.

Apple County Chorus sings at charity events, festivals, functions, national celebrations and also around the Christmas Tree. The musical director and assistant director can compile varied programmes of music to suit almost any occasion from our repertoire of songs from the 1920’s – date!

The music is arranged in four-part unaccompanied harmony – acapella, in the ‘barbershop’, style – it is different from any other style of choral singing. Vocal coaching and encouragement is provided by Chorus Director Anya Peat to enable the chorus to produce this special sound. Members need to be able to hold a tune and learn their part by heart; much learning is done through listening with the aid of recordings, though reading music does help!

The chorus is always keen to attract new members aged 18+ and you will find a warm welcome from us at any rehearsal night – but call Mary, Chorus President on 01823 442453 if you can, to let us know you’re intending to come along!
